"Don't Sleep in the Subway" by Petula Clark

DDR is a very good form of exercise, and my parents both like oldies
music. My hope is that if I make a collection of oldies simfiles, I
can convince them to start playing DDR. This is my first attempt
towards that goal.

(Update nine years later: NOPE)

I cut the song so that it has the first verse, the refrain, and then
another refrain trailing off into the end. Actually, this only
required one cut. Hopefully you can't tell where it is. As with many
older songs, this wasn't recorded with a precise rhythm, so you cannot
sync the song with one constant BPM. Instead, I found the starts of
beats every two measures apart and made a changing BPM that always
goes through these markers. I have a short python script that does
the calculation; the only annoying part is finding the exact beats. I
included the notes I have on the timing in a separate file.

I made the banner using GIMP on Linux. The background of the banner
is some large hollow Zs made using one of the logo constructors. (The
Zs represent sleeping.) I then used the Map Object map to made the
text look like it is coming towards the reader. The background is
http://www.city.kobe.jp/cityoffice/27/syogyo/kaigai/kaigai.files/subway.jpg,
which as of April 2006 is the first result for subway on Google Image
Search. Obviously, I editted the train's billboard. Once again, I
used GIMP for that.
